Physiotherapy in your home

How long will the sessions take?
Sessions usually take between 45 minutes to an hour. However this can vary from one person to the next and they may be as short as 30 minutes or longer than an hour if this is appropriate. This will be discussed with you when therapy sessions are planned and booked.

How often will I be seen?
Depending on your needs and progress, sessions can range from daily to fortnightly. This will also be influenced by your preference, however sessions will not be booked unnecessarily.

How many sessions will I get?

It is very difficult to predict how many sessions you will need. After seeing you a few times, an estimate can be given, but this cannot be made more accurate. If you are limited to a specific number of sessions or an amount of time for any reason, please let us know and we can aim to get the most out of the limited time.

Where will my therapy take place?
You will be seen at home in most circumstances, however if you have goals around outdoor mobility, gardening, shopping etc then sessions may be planned in these locations.

Do you supply aids and equipment?
Yes, your therapist will gladly assist you in researching and ordering equipment that you require. This will be invoiced separately as and when it is needed.

Will I see you on my own?
Your therapy will happen in your home environment, and if you would like to have family, friends or carers present or involved then this is definitely possible. If their presence is found to be disruptive to your sessions your therapist may suggest this be reviewed, but in most cases it is beneficial for loved ones to be present as they can further assist and give advice when your therapist is not around.

Will I be able to choose a time for my sessions that suits me?
Yes. We will always try to accommodate times that suit you, however there may be occasions when this is not possible and we will have to agree on the next best option.

When will my rehab stop?
Your rehabilitation will finish when you have achieved all your goals, or it is found that your outstanding goals are not realistically achievable any longer. In some cases, a short break is needed and therapy may recommence in 6-8 weeks again.
